Fox’s Gallery invites our loyal customers and any new chums who like to keep in touch with our exhibitions and events throughout the year. Many of you already know about our annual shows and we thought you’d also like to be aware of the full spread of exhibitions that we offer. Our opening parties are listed here – everyone is welcome, refreshments are served and entry is free.

EXHIBITIONS 2011:

FEBRUARY 1-28: ‘BLUSH’ All pink Exhibition featuring pretty sparkly glasswork, timber boxes, turnings and carvings in soft pink tones. Just in time for a valentine!

MARCH 4th – April 4th: ‘You Wear it Well’ ‘WEARABLE ART – Beads, Silver & Fabric’
Exquisite lampworked glass and silver jewellery by Penel Bigg will this year be complemented by hand-made wearables, shawls, hats and scarves. Overarching this display will be the work of local sculptors and artists exploring the human love of adornment from. Show how well YOU wear it at:
Opening party Friday March 4th from 5 till 7pm.

APRIL 8-30: ‘EGG-SELLENT! Non-fattening Easter eggs galore! Egg shapes and the birds that lay them sculpted in carved timber, blown glass, lampwork glass ceramic and stone. Includes work by Fox’s most popular artists including well-known local artists and artisans.

MAY 27 – JUNE 30: ‘MAKE AN ENTRANCE! THE ELEGANCE OF HALL TABLES.’
Add a mirror or a lamp to match. Vamp up your vestibule, brighten your boudoir or enliven your entrance with a slim new hall table by Mr Paul Fox himself. Design a table with us and show off your individual design. Mix and match with a mirror, a burl lamp to shine on the table or a lush piece of glass.

JULY 1-31: HUON PINE EXHIBITION Huon Pine has been an object of fascination since the first years of European settlement in Tasmania. Its qualities of durability, softness and beauty make it the most desirable of Tasmanian timbers and it is often referred to as ‘green gold’. Fox’s Gallery displays a number of pieces specially made by our artisans for this exhibition as well as custom made items made for you in Huon Pine.

AUGUST: GAMES MONTH: (To coincide with Fathers Day) Let’s play! Many different Games made in timber and loads of puzzles to keep busy those with intricate minds.

SEPTEMBER: ‘MOTHERLAND’ Kayo Yokoyama, ‘
Kayo has finished her masters in the study of Engraving and will launch her new range at Fox’s. Her designs are from the heart and the colours, shapes and art of her Motherland.

OCTOBER: ‘QUALITY TIME’: NEW clock supplier making grandfather, grandmother, wall clocks and magnificent mantle clocks in Australian native timbers. Kit clocks available for the first time at Fox’s this October. Come spend some Quality Time at Fox’s Gallery.

NOVEMBER – DECEMBER: (Annual) ‘BOXES & BEADS’ - our Christmas promotion. Beads AND boxes are always popular at this time of year.

EXHIBITIONS RECENTLY PASSED. 2010 EXHIBITIONS:

MARCH 5-25: (Annual) ‘TURN UP THE HEAT’
Exquisite lampworked glass and silver jewellery by Penel Bigg and Brenda Coleman. Launching new pieces exclusive to Fox’s. Opening party on Friday March 5, 5 till 7pm.

APRIL 22 – MAY 30: ‘SCRATCHING THE SURFACE’
Texture or carving in timber, etching into metal/paper/glass, calligraphy in ceramic & stone. Meet well-known local artists and artisans. Opening party Thursday April 22, 5 till 7pm.

MAY- JUNE: ‘CONSOLE! CONSOLE!’
New designs of the age-old favourite – the console table. Each console will of course have a longish top and drawers, but there the similarity will end. There will be long, tall, short and surprising. Possibly most will have 4 legs but not necessarily! Some hints from the workshop and drawing board are: natural edge, spectacular timbers and something a little bit ‘Deco’.

JULY: ‘IN THE RED’ Feature timbers for this month – Aust Red Cedar, Jarrah, Red Gum – and red jewels and glass.

AUGUST: DRYLANDS: New release of hand blown glass vases, bowls and platters from Keith Rowe in the 2010 designs inspired by desert colours and landscape. Complemented by Bob Kersey's Desert photographs.
 

SEPTEMBER: ‘FATHER TIME’ (To coincide with Fathers Day)
Clocks from tiny to grandfather: new designs always emerging. Our October 2006 clock show was very well received and all of the clocks sold. We will launch it at midday with a mass chiming – a moment not to be missed! Watch this space.

SEPTEMBER: 'LIGHTEN UP FOR SPRING'  After the long cold Central West winter, bring in some rays of light glowing above Fox's marvellously gnarled Australian timber lamp bases. New lamps and shades in the gallery this month.
